When is the right time to book your practical driving test?
You can book your test after you pass your theory test.
You must have a valid provisional driving licence.
In the UK, you need to be at least 17 years old.
Your theory test certificate is valid for 2 years, so you must pass your practical test within this time.
There is no set number of lessons for everyone. People learn at different speeds.
Many learners take about 40–50 hours of lessons plus extra practice before they feel ready.
Your instructor can tell you when they think you are ready for the test.
They can also help you choose a suitable test date.
If you feel confident earlier, talk to your instructor so you can plan together.
What will happen during your driving test?
